Kidz Klub originated in New York and was set up by Bill Wilson
They began gathering children off the streets and doing ‘Sidewalk Sunday school’, this then grew over the years to over 20,000 children attending ‘Kids Church’.
KidzKlub in the UK started in Liverpool,
Dave Sharples had spent some time in New York, and came back to his church in the uk (Frontline church) where they launched their Kidz Klub in 1993. after a while the church had 800+ attending every Friday or Saturday.
Nationally there are over 200 KidzKlubs of varying sizes.
During Jen’s year on Frontier Project she ran holiday clubs in Sundornebased on a KidzKlub model. This started with 5 children on the first October half term and they gradually grew in numbers and the team grew in experience.
After a final half term Kidz Klub, held here at the centre in February 2004, we launched the weekly Kidz Klub in April 2004, with 20 children on the first week. We grew steadily and have achieved numbers of up to 100.
In January 2009 North Shrewsbury felt it was time for them to branch out and attempt their own Kidzklub. So they took their kids and started their own Friday night Kidzklub and we continued on a Saturday morning.
Straight after the split their was growth from both Kidzklubs and we had around 40 children on a weekly basis.
After a short break it was decided that Barnabas Kidz Klub would relaunch on fridays starting in the autumn term of 2011.
Fridays will never be the same again!
