Barnabas Community Church Shrewsbury

Our Name

In 2004, as part of our 21st celebrations the name of the Church was changed to Barnabas Community Church.

Barnabas - historically our name, means "Son of Encouragement" and we want to be an encouragement to each other, other churches and our local community.
Community - we want to have a positive influence in the communities in which our members live. This is through Church based projects such as Kidz Klub or Basics Bank and also Church members being actively involved in the workplace, in schools and other voluntary organisations
Church - a living community of people who share faith in Jesus. It was sometimes difficult to explain what the word fellowship meant, so it seemed right to help people understand that we are a Christian Church.
